My name is Nikolas and I am 22 years old. I come from Greece and I study International and European studies in Athens. In May 2022 I arrived in Bologna for an internship in YouNet via Erasmus+ Placement. Right now after almost 4 months in this organization I am leaving with a better knowledge and a full heart. By the first day I arrived I understood how good the environment is inside the organization. I realized that YouNet doesn’t stick to a formal and traditional environment of an organization, there is young and positive energy inside the office which makes you feel welcomed and come everyday to the office. It is also an environment for development; what annoyed me at the beginning ,but appreciated at the end is that there are a variety of different tasks and activities and some of them are really challenging and require more personal effort. Nevertheless, I always felt the support of my mentors Milena and Silvia, who were there for me not to judge but to help me. Thanks to them I managed to develop new skills and qualities but also to improve the already existent.
My main objectives working in the EUMOVO department were the assistance of the ongoing projects and the interaction with volunteers. Both of those topics were very interesting to me so I was very happy to take them over. Regarding the first part my responsibilities were the creation of materials such as guides or infopacks of the ongoing projects, digital promotion of the opportunities abroad and a variety of different tasks deferring in every occasion.Regarding the second part I organized an on-arrival and a final training with the volunteers, I did some bonding activities with them and of course I was there to help also in the administrative part.
In conclusion, writing these lines and remembering my time here in Bologna, I couldn’t be more glad that I had the opportunity to work in YouNet. I learnt a lot , I met amazing people and I really wish that my journey will make me come back to Bologna again one day. For everyone who considers an internship in the NGO sector I strongly advise you to consider it.
Thank you YouNet
