I have been in Lisbon for a month and a half, and I didn't expect to have the time to explore so much!
It's a huge city, and I discover a little bit of it every day. Thanks to the beautiful weather, I also visited Sintra and Cascais, tried delicious pastel de nata, and enjoyed walks in nature. I started working two weeks after my arrival and got to know my colleagues and the residents at the center where I work. There are about 30 people, all very different from each other - some cheerful, some serious, some talkative. Many of them have a migration background. At first, with some, I could only exchange smiles because I didn't understand Portuguese. Over time, I became attached to them and can now have small conversations in Portuguese! This experience has taught me a lot about patience, empathy, and intercultural communication. Living and working in a new country challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, and appreciate different ways of life. I feel more confident, open-minded, and motivated to continue learning from new experiences like this.
